Apple iPad Launch with Steve Wozniak

Posted on April 3, 2010 at 2:42 PM Comments comments (0)

Today Brandon and I went to the iPad launch in the San Jose Valley Fair Mall. We met up with the rest of the iPad development team ( my husband is one) and watched as people, who lined up since yesterday at 1pm, get their new iPads. It was pandaemonium and the lines went out the mall. Here are some photos:

We weren't the only ones there. Steve Wozniak was there buying 2 iPads! He also signed a few for his fans.

It was quite the event. I am glad to have been part of it. And proud to be a wife of a man that helped create such an awesome device now in the technology hall of fame!

Purex Complete 3 in 1 Laundry Sheet (Product Review)

Posted on April 3, 2010 at 12:29 AM Comments comments (0)

Today I used my free samples of Purex 3 in 1 Laundry sheets and put them to the test. I did a load of darks, and a load of whites to see if there was any difference. Here is my review:

The Use:
Since I have a front loading washer, per instructions I placed the sheet in first, then all my load and began the cycle. When the wash was done, I put the whole thing into the dryer from the washer. It was really easy and I noticed the soap portion was off the sheet and only a small blue strip at the top went into the dryer.  When Finished, the sheet came out about the same as a regular dryer sheet, just a little thicker.

The End Result:
Both loads got clean for sure, not over clean and sparkly but I don't think any soap does that. Like regular Purex there isn't a fabulous scent afterward, it's just clean. So it does exactly what it says that it does and is very easy to use. Clothes seems quite soft like normal but nothing really extra-ordinary.

Pros:
I would say that if you're looking for a quick way to do laundry it is very quick. Also if you hate spilling soap or measuring it is a better option. Any man can do it, and however many sheets you have is how many loads you can do.

Cons:
Like regular Purex there is no real wow smell, it doesn't emit a scent, which I really like. (Also a reason I use fabric softener and dryer sheets separate). It basically just doesn't smell dirty anymore.

Overall I give this product 8 out of 10 stars.
*** I was in no way compensated for my review. I just used my free samples to test out this product.

I took a break from Shopping and Cleaned the Black Hole (Purse)

So link most women, I just throw everything into my purse and go. This is what my purse looked like after 2 months of not cleaning and getting my car registered. LOL Yeah! I had to stop and clean it out today.

Most important was for me to organize my wallet (which can barely be seen in this pic) and then get rid of the items that I don't need to carry everywhere. Needless to say there was a lot of trash.

I had receipts and expired coupons from February. Ouch!

Here is what my final product looks like.

Much better! And lighter too! I think every woman should take time this weekend and clean out their purse. Maybe something we should be doing at the very least once a month!

Tips on how to save money on Laundry, Washing, and Cooking

Posted on April 1, 2010 at 12:33 AM Comments comments (0)

I wanted to put together a couple times a week a few tips on how to save money outside of my regular posts. I am a regular consumer and wife as most of you are and I have to cook and clean just like you. So here are a few times that I have for you on ways you can cut costs.

1. Get as many freebies as possible. Do you look at my deals weekly/daily? My favorite things are the samples/freebies. Lot's of companies put out free samples and they can save you money.
  • Example Laundry: I got a trial pack of the new Purex 3 in 1 sheets, it comes with 2 sheets so I have 2 free loads of laundry. Also, I got the free sample of Tide with Febreze for another free load. That is 3 free loads, typically that can last me 2-3 weeks of laundry. That is at least $1-2 savings from your laundry soap expense. (If you're in/or have a kid in college- that is a lot of laundry).
  • Example Soap: There are always samples for body wash. Again they are usually trial samples but you can get 2-4 washes on those. Remember they say a dime size amount usually.
2. Use a wash rag. This might sound weird but do you use sponges? They usually get replaced 1-2 months and that can add up. You could be purchasing these a few times a year, maybe you also use sponges when cleaning so even more. Cut down! You can use a wash rag. Easy as a wash cloth. Less than $1 and probably something you already have too many of. Don't worry about no scrubbies, you can usually get everything with some arm work. If you would rather have a backup sponge, just one and use it on as needed basis.

3. Freeze excess! This is the most valuable piece of information I have received in the last year! So awesome! Do you only cook for 1-2 people? Why waste food? Brandon and I used to cook up all the meat in a slab from the grocery store or all the Spaghetti and then when we were finished we would throw out excess or box it up for later and never eat. Well, I have a new system.
  • When I first come home with my food, I immediately portion it off for a dinner for two. The first portion I put in the refrigerator and the second or third in the freezer ( I wrap in plastic wrap then aluminum foil, I then mark what it is and the date I froze it).  Then when it's time to eat the next portion, I put it in the fridge the morning I plan to cook it to thaw and I can get 2-3 meals out of one slab of meat. (when I say slab I mean you buy a pack of meat with usually 2-3 pieces of meat, fairly large about $5) This will save you money quickly.

I hope these help and are things that you could try doing yourself. Let me know any tips you have. I'll post a few every week or so. I am not an expert but have found some neat ways to cut cost in my home.
